Great pics, Norc, especially the fourth one with the cabin in the centre and the mountains in the background. Looks a wonderful place to relax

well and well, the first thing he did was pull a muscle (is that even an expression in english ?) and was limping throughout our stay... dogs doesn't know how important warming up is.. also i think he mis calculated how deep the snow was.
Re: Tales of Home [5]
It's the exact expression in English!
And Leopold sounds like the typical doggie. Goober-brain.

Re: Tales of Home [5]
I had an interesting time getting home the last couple days. Had to dip deeply into my old traveler bag of tricks. For security I spent much of last evening visiting with a homeless couple, Spooky and Rhonda.
Spooky had once been a Golden Gloves contender, and it showed on his face. It was often hard to understand him. I don't think anybody ever bothered to reset his jaw. Or his nose. Or fix that one eye.....
He was about half my height, built like a small battle tank that have served in many wars, with absolutely no fear. But for all that, there was still a gentleness about him, especially when it came to Rhonda.
Rhonda was his soulmate, and spoke for him when he couldn't find the words or was unable to pronounce them.
I love people like that. I wish they got more respect in this world.

That sounds a nice story Dave I like 'real' people like that to, they are often the most unassuming & sometimes humble of people, probably can tell you a good tale also Actually, its often a warm joy to be in their company

Re: Tales of Home [5]
I have had many a fond encounter with homeless folks- used to hang out with them when the crowds had gone in Glasgow at 3-4am in the morning, share fags and bevvy and listening to them talk and many busked during the day so they would play tunes just for fun as we sat there on the streets. Good times, and 99% good people I met.
But I am slightly concerned you required security. All well I hope.

Indeed. I actually had one of them, of the "believe it or not" variety, partly typed when I thought better of it. After all, it's not my story to tell, and it wouldn't be respectful. Stories are the only wealth these folks have, and I'd be an ungrateful guest if I stole one.

Sorry if I sounded melodramatic Petty. It was nothing dangerous at all really. It's just that sometimes when you're traveling your plans fall through and you find yourself spending the night on the street in a strange town with no friends.
There seemed to be some activity among the tweeker/junkie community which had the police taking certain of them into custody for their own safety, and I figured as an out of state stranger I was pretty certain to be questioned and have my ID run. I'm pretty good at not getting mixed up in things, and one of the best ways is to introduce yourself to folks like Spooky and Rhonda who are well known and pretty much immune. Besides, it's a much better way to spend the evening!

Re: Tales of Home [5]
Thats a cracking pic Azriel.
I was out and about earlier, lovely spring Easter Sunday here, took some pics, well quite a few, along the way-
This hill was on the other side of the Loch from where I grew up, it dominated one entire skyline for the first 18 years of my life-
And these hills dominated the view at the head of the loch-
This is all thats left of the US Navy Base- their pier- their was a time when this was a hive of activity, non stop taxis coming and going, boats leaving and arriving continuely, tannoys going all the time and hundreds of sailors coming and going, hard to believe now-
This was taken at a place called Blairmore, its sort of round the hill in the first picture-
Like a scene from Local Hero-
Still some remnant of snow on these hills-
Blairmore House, once upon a time it was a acre home, and I worked there-
Some rhododendron today-
Path I followed for a bit in the woods-
This is the head of the Holy Loch, where the fresh water Loch Eck runs, via the river the Little Eck, into the sea loch-
An interesting tree for Azriel-

Your pictures are lovely Petty ! Loved the sparkle on the water ! & thankyou for the tree ! Im sorry but, something you said, or rather wrote, made me chuckle..............................
"Path I followed for a bit in the woods-"............................. ( a bit of what ?) I bookmark all your pics & show them to my friend,Iain, he gets all nostalgic, so that's two people you cheer up.

Ah ! of course ! The famous Wild Boar Buckie An elusive creature, only found in the alley ways of deepest, darkest Scotland. Not often seen as its numbers are, sadly dwindling, but, it can be heard for miles around by the plaintiff, painful howling, early hours of the morning..................................................................................(when it realises the pubs are shut !)

They do have their stories to tell, often fascinating people. And one of our own number is homeless in Australia, trying to remember her name, hasn't been on in a couple months, her avatar is a black horse.

Ive been dying to get snappies of this and, after the chopping down of the tree I posted before, I thought I'd better do it pronto.
This tree has become "one" with the wall. I dont know how this happened & neither does the householder, I spoke to him today & he said its been like that before he moved in, over 30yrs ago.
