Glad to hear no one was hurt Eldo- and that you were not near it.

Thanks for your concern, everyone!  Fortunately that wasn't near to me, though it was only two blocks away from a good friend's house.  (Thankfully they weren't involved.)  I was relieved to read that no one was hurt in the incident, but it's pretty terrifying.  My first thought when seeing the photo was that it might have been a sinkhole, but it sounds like the side of a trench collapsed.  I say trench, but these things are at least 20 feet deep and 40 feet across.  They run between streets, below street level but open to the sky except when passing under roads, to allow train traffic through heavily built-up areas.

Glad to hear none were hurt and that you are safe, Eldo. Smile

When I was like middle school aged a lot of people thought that if they dared me to do something I was required to do it. I think most of them grew out of it, but regardless, it is in fact really easy to say no. Wink

Ugh, I remember with loathing my formative years and the dreaded "Triple-dog Dare."

And now there was nothing but the roofs of houses, sweeping along like a great torrent of stones and rocks. Chimney-pots fell, and tiles flew from the roofs..."

I have quite a downer on dares- was at a party long ago in Glasgow and there was a lad at that thought it was pussy to chicken out a dare too- fell three storeys and they took him away in a body bag and we spend the night being interviewed by police, so yeah, not much time for stupid dares.

I would put jumping into the freezing sea under the heading stupid AND crazy. Tell them to do it first. Mind you this is the person who jumped off a moving ferry boat. so....... Shrugging  but I was lucky and stupid.

Wait, I thought you already made a video.

There's a difference between stupid dares and crazy dares.

Which one is more likely to get you killed?   scratch   I'm backing Norc up on this one.  Some dares are worth accepting as proof of gumption.  But they must be accepted with breezy nonchalance, or all is lost.

I agree. The important thing is that you choose to do it or not to do it. It's the nonchalance, the taking ownership of the decision away from the darer, that makes you cool, not the act itself. Dares are a power game, and if you feel like you're being forced to do something, then you've just lost. Nod
