This isnt norcing its outright hijacking, and I wont be having it!   

So to get back on topic with the mess the CBI have made of things, Strathclyde University has joined the list of Uni's resigning from it, and now also the Law Society of Scotland.
This is looking more and more like a huge error of judgement and another own goal by the No campaign.

Two more have resigned - Highlands and Islands Enterprise and Skills Development Scotland.
I wonder how long this has to go on for before the CBI admits it didn't actually consult its members at all about doing this and may have made a small error in judgement?

I did a bit of reading about this myself too and it all sounds like a mind-boggling display of arrogance on whoever made the decision to endorse one side. It's nice to see some pushback to such blatantly undemocratic meddling in the political process.

Its just such an obvious bad decision. I dont know what else they expected to happen there was no way government institutions and Universities could remain as members, they made it impossible for them.
And as the cbi are supposed to be a business organisation they surely could see that the major industries here couldn't come out on one side or the other when they will need the good will of customers no matter the outcome (not to mention not wanting to burn bridges with any future Scottish government or Westminster one depending on outcome).

If this has purely been done as a result of pressure from the Tories then its a terrible miscalculation and they must be desperate for funds indeed if they considered this a worthwhile risk for £150,000 in donations to their campaign.

Rather typically, but still disappointingly, the flagship political show of the day on the BBC here, Newsnight Scotland devoted half its run time to Gordon Browns Better Together speech and made exactly ZERO reference to the mass exodus from the CBI.
They even somehow failed to mention it when doing the 'tomorrows front pages' section at the end where at least three of the papers carried the story on their front page. That takes actual effort to avoid the subject.
BBC, when its come down to the pinch for your political impartiality, you have sadly failed and shattered a life times faith in your reporting

Also note Gordon Browns rather mad argument, highlighted in the pro-Union Express as a reason to vote NO- that Scotlands pension bill would be greater than its oil and gas revenue.

This is mad. By that reckoning the UK, with a much larger population has a pension bill many times the oil and gas revenue.
You dont pay for pensions out of just oil ad gas it comes out of all taxation.
And when you look at that over past five years Scotland has contributed to the UK pension pot 9.5% of taxation, and got back to spend 8.3%
So we would in fact have been better just keeping what we raised here and not sending it to the Treasury in the first place.

But for Brown , a former Chancellor to make this the heart of his argument is bizarre, and SNP representatives have been gleefully shooting it down with ease on news programs all evening.

There is a genuine pension issue facing all industrialised countries from an ageing population, but this nonsense has nothing to do with addressing that issue and Browns claims are just another thing on the huge list of instant calamities which will befall Scotland if we vote YES. So much for a change in tone to the positive case for being part of the UK.

whats shocking about A Strictly Come Dancing Susanna being prepared for anything? I have watched Game of Thrones   nothing shocks me now.

The CBI thing rumbles on with more companies and institutions leaving it, but there is one member who has yet to comment or resign, and thats the BBC.
Among the first to go was Scotland's other main broadcaster, STV, who stated they had to maintain impartial and could not do so if they remained members of a body officially part of the NO campaign.

So why hasn't the BBC resigned? Or are they declaring their colours finally in the open?

The BBC have finally reacted, sort of.

Rather than resign from the CBI like everyone else, they have 'suspended their membership' for the duration of the referendum debate and vote. But presumably still technically remain members of the CBI   

Do suspended members still pay dues?

So far the CBI line for everyone who has resigned is that money is not paid back- so basically they keep it.
