Actually Tin, I'm pretty sure my answer was right.   

Glowing but not hot,
Milky white, yet I'm not!
Looking big when low
and small when high
yet everybody here should know
one size am I.

The Ring?  Other than the milky white part I'm pretty sure it fits (the size thing could be a reference to the various size models they made for the movies).

Probably not tho.

Oh, I see that first line is a nice bit of misdirection in this context.

Hmm...that would fit almost as well as what I intended, but there's less of the optical illusion implied by the last line.

Yep.

I've decided the optical illusion of the moon being larger when near the horizon is because we define the sky by the clouds, which are indeed further away when near the horizon. So anything we seen near the horizon we automatically assume is further away. Since the moon is the same distance away when 'high' versus 'low', our brain interprets it as being bigger when low rather than the same size.

Dang, now I have to think of something. Let's see... I remember one from my childhood.

I felt there couldn't possibly be any other answer to his riddle, so went ahead. No good giving Amarië grief about it, I've already ridden ahead carrying everyone with me.

Well done! I'm sorry for the delayed response, but it took a while for anyone to respond so I stopped checking regularly.

"Beneath the mound" is synonymous with "Underhill;"
the name Mr. Underhill is told to others to conceal Frodo's real identity, thus it conceals more than it is concealed;
and Frodo uses it only once he leaves the Shire, being far from home.
Although it was a mistake of mine to say that Frodo "reveals" the name Underhill to Butterbur, it kind of works, in a misleading sort of way. In truth he reveals his true identity as Mr. Frodo Baggins.

I was thinking this was toes and fingers, but I believe the correct response is a milk cow!
Four hanging teats, four hooves, two ears, two horns, and a tail!
