The creature in question is spelled 'geoduck' and pronounced gooey-duck. It's a giant clam that lives in the Northwest. The name is a Native American word that's been badly butchered English Speakers.

They're actually considered quite a delicacy in Japan, Azriel (though the Japanese variety is much smaller.)
