That's a great song.
I thought this was rather sweet.
"You gonna sing that song about robin's eggs and diamonds?" Bob had asked me on the first day of rehearsals.
"Which one?"
"You know, that one about blue eyes and diamonds..."
"Oh", I said, "you must mean 'Diamonds And Rust,' the song I wrote for my husband, David. I wrote it while he was in prison."
"For your husband?" Bob said.
"Yeah. Who did you think it was about?" I stonewalled.
"Oh, hey, what the fuck do I know?"
"Never mind. Yeah, I'll sing it, if you like."
Err.. for anyone not paying attention, it wasn't about her husband.

Nice.
This is another Dylan cover of hers, though apparently when she played it back to him after having recorded it he didn't even remember having written it. Asking who's it was as he thought it was quite good.

Re: Music [2]
I thought that album was great! I borrowed it out from the library and ripped the tracks. (One of my first not-strictly-legal acquisitions!)
My favourite track:
Probably my second favourite:
But this is really good too:
OK so the whole album is great. And Society would be my favourite, but thought I'd add something else.

My sister and mom didn't like it at all: said that it was too depressing. I like sad movies, so we split opinions on this one.Norc wrote:cool love that movie. it was my sister who recommended it
There was this one rastafarian guy who worked here on the farm for a couple years, and he took to Into the Wild almost religiously. It was pretty funny, hearing him talk about how the movie says so much about the Babylon of society and so on.

Re: Music [2]
Sooo, about that "Sayit." What exactly is this type of music called?
The others are less minimalist.
[0:48] She's an android!!
But this is actually just a model lip-syncing? Interesting.

Re: Music [2]
i dunno what it's in english, we just call it electronica. they (among some others in the 80's, these guys are from the 90's) kinda invented the genre...

I thought Electronica, but then I figured it would belong to some sort of sub-genre.Norc wrote:i dunno what it's in english, we just call it electronica. they (among some others in the 80's, these guys are from the 90's) kinda invented the genre...

Well, in the music video, a white stream of liquid is dripping down off her foot. It reminded me of the android's white "blood" from Alien.
This is after the android gets all torn apart, but before he ceases function. Basically the white stuff functions as his blood. In one scene he pokes himself (or something like that) and we see a little bit leak out.
And the model thing was just that the vocals of the song are sung by Karin Dreijer Andersson but the woman we see lip-syncing in the video is a model (her name is Marianne Schroder).
Anyway, thanks for sharing!

Re: Music [2]
goood, it's a bit weird music but not in a bad way in my opinion, did u just listen to the one ??
Re: Music [2]
also, i don't think there is anything wrong with using a model rather than the singer. Röyksopp is a duo of two men and they don't have a front-figure-vocalist thing, so they sort of jsut borrows the voice and i guess the singer might not feel the need to do all that in a video and also at the same time, a model actually knows what she's doing, it's her job to look great from every angle and have piercing looks
Re: Music [2]
Indeed!
And yes I watched the others as well. The track-by-track Do It Again video, wherein they talk about the creative process behind the music, was interesting. I must say that I was distracted quite a bit by the guy on the right of the couch though. He looks so much like my dad did when he was younger! (And a bit like me I suppose, except that I have a lot my mom's looks too).
Being linked to somewhere so far away through genetics is kind of strange when you think about it. The way we look, which is really a huge part of life, tells the story of who our ancestors were and where we came from.

This is one of my fav songs ! Ive liked Royksopp for a while now, I thought the girl in the vid was meant to be a ghost ? a hit n run victim ? And she was asking "why?" why did you run me over ? that was my perception of it ?

I really should get around to giving Röyksopp a proper listen one of these days, shouldn't I.

Mykonos is the only song of theirs I had heard properly until yesterday, I think. Though it has always been a favourite of mine. So I was pleseantly surprised I liked the rest of their music as much as I did.
I rather like Blue Ridge Mountains. Particularily the last part.
"In the quivering forest.."
Then again I try not to judge music further than wether it makes me go "Yeah, I rather liked that." or "Meh, not for me." So I can perfectly understand if someone disagree.
