But never buy Renaissance choral music from before about 1970. They were still interpreting it operatically, heavy vibrato and such.

Neil Young is launching a new file format for music called Pono, that aimes to give the listener the closest approximation of the sound the artist hears in the studio, to compete with the mp3 format.

This might be the first Stephen Stills song since, it's sad to say it, the 80's that I actually rather liked.

Been listening to James Taylor a bit since you posted those vids, Blue. Great music indeed

Yeah, he certainly has something special. Glad I could point you in his direction.
This came up a suggestion from the video of that song. It's quite nice.

Re: Music [2]
My dad used to have a Love and Rockets greatest hits CD that I would listen to in his apartment when I was about 12 years old. It was one of the few CDs he had that wasn't classic rock (or the White Stripes). My mom was always the one who was more into '80s music and alternative. But Love and Rockets were not quite like any of the other music I heard growing up, and even though it's been years since the last time I listened to them, they still have of fond (but somewhat melancholic) memories associated with them for me. Today, on a whim, I decided to look for their music on YouTube and it's as good as I remember it being.
Re: Music [2]
There's the iconic 80's/90' look about them, & I thought I could hear a Depeche Mode influence in there somewhere ? I like the 2nd song !

Re: Music [2]
The second song wasn't on the CD my dad had, but it was mentioned in the liner notes. When I started thinking about the band again last night I decided to look it up and listen to it for the first time, and it turned out to be one of my favorite Love and Rockets songs now.
Depeche Mode ... that's another group I haven't listened to in several years. My brother used to be big into them. They're also really good.

I get my "moments" when all I do religiously for days is, listen to one particular group/singer till I get bored with it.

Re: Music [2]
I know what you mean. I sometimes worry I'll "ruin" a band for myself, but I've found I'm able to return and listen to a band again after enough time has passed since a binge.
Re: Music [2]
I've posted this before, but Depche Mode has been brought up I don't see any harm in re-posting an awesome song with an awesome vid to with it

Re: Music [2]
Ok, this is a bit of a stretch but..
When Norc mentioned the Holberg suite it got me thinking of Grieg. And thinking about Grieg got me thinking of his music for Peer Gynt and how Ibsen never liked that music as it is majestically national romantic and Peer Gynt is supposed to be a parody of just the Norwegian national romantic period. And that got me thinking of another Norwegian composer who famously wrote music for Peer Gynt, called Harald Sæverud.
I knew all this already, but I never actually listened to the music until today. And it's certainly.. different and quite interesting.

Re: Music [2]
so if anyone is wondering why i complain (a bit) about the holberg suite... like the first violin part isn't all that dificult.. no honestly, u can get away with playing lower (no high positisions etc.) but fucking look at the viola section!!! (on the right side next to the double bass) u can see them in picture before clicking play.
Re: Music [2]
Well its no good unless it challenges you- and I predict you will rise to that challenge Norc.
And if you dont there is always a career in consuming buckie to look forward to.
One question though, do you also have a silly face to pull when playing and is pulling a silly face mandatory for viola players?

A bit more Sæverud:
