Re: Music [2]
I had a quick search for the violin sheet and couldn't find it either. But, and this sounds a bit strange, he apparently tweeted this:
I'm sure you can have a proper go at picking it by ear. The doubles are probably put on in a second take, so just focus on the melody line.
Lance; Good, that sounds like the way to do it. Far to many people try to pick out the exact notes when they haven't really been thought through all that much by the artist. I would try to play it myself now, but I have no idea where I've laid my capo.
I'll keep an ear out.
Despite having never played violin in his whole life, Sheeran choose to perform it himself via overdubbing. He tweeted: "I got the chance to produce and play all the instruments on it apart from the cello. Managed to learn violin for a day, hope you all dig it."

Re: Music [2]
what? he did that himself?! that's ridicolous... and i haev no idea what overdubbing menas.... he probably cheated..
Re: Music [2]
Overdubbing is basically playing on top of the original and mixing them together on the final version.
Blue - I think his sounds quite organic because he is just playing whatever is felt at the time. That's kinda how I play anyway.

Re: Music [2]
Yes and no, I would say.
The whole song is overdubbed though. As Sheeran said, he played every instrument but the cello.
You've piqued my interest now, so I might have a look at the violin thing myself. I'll let you know how I get on.

Re: Music [2]
It's the violin violin (violin?) bit right?
Or is there a viola in there as well?
I get the melody voice, but I see why you thought it was dificult. Some of the harmonies are rather thight. Also you would need to be several people to really play it. (Or overdub, of course. )

Re: Music [2]
Was my attempt recorded on my phone last night. Was still learning the structure of the song so there are a few small pauses where I am trying to work out where I am!!

Re: Music [2]
Well, I can hear you have gotten going Lance. The hard part when copying someone elses style is often to make it sound as effortless as they do.
Yeah, you could I guess.
As far as I can gather there are two melodies. And I'm quite sure he recorded them seperately and then doubled up each of them at least a couple of times.
It sounds surprisingly good. Not sure I'm buying the not being able to play violin bit though. And he didn't really say it either, it was more someones interpretation of his tweet.
You can see him doing the violin thing here actually:

Re: Music [2]
Im not really a finger picking type so found it quite difficult to get used to. Not bad for an hour or so though.
Re: Music [2]
Not at all Lance. It's a very different technique, and especially if you do it in a as offhand way as Sheeran.

Re: Music [2]
Having just about reached the end of the OutKast discography some time ago, I have finally given Big Boi's solo debut Sir Lucious Left Foot a long-overdue full listen and it is fantastic. He's just as good a rapper as he's ever been and there is so much going on with the beats that every track is fresh, despite being bound together by a common theme of synth-funk. The only way I think this album could have been significantly better is if Andre 3000 had been able to make a guest vocal appearance or two, as he did on the advance single "Royal Flush", which wasn't included with the album due to label disputes. But on the other hand, Big Boi has been unfairly left in Andre's shadow for so long, that it's really nice to see him shine on his own.

Re: Music [2]
It's interesting how many good songs are hidden away on old albums. Apparently this was co-written by George Harrison and Eric Clapton for Creams last album, before George Harrison even left the Beatles.

Re: Music [2]
A nice song by an underappreciated artist? Perhaps.

I'm glad you think so, Azriel.
It's actually one of my favourite songs.
