Then maybe his ultimate goal is to capture Smaug with a pokéball so he can use him to dominate the Middle-earth Pokémon League Championship.Amarië wrote:Oh that's clever! He only has to shout/mumble "Oooooorc I choooooose yoooooooouh" once (he does speak rather slow) and Hey presto! Instant orc army! Neat!

I think Bard looks like Ted Neeley as Jesus in the 1970 Jesus Christ Superstar

''Look at riddles in the dark-best scene in AUJ, superly acted and shot...but to me still had the feel of a fans service 'hey look its Gollum ta da!' and with the decidely modern humour, dialogue and action sequences the idea of a polite riddles game coming out of knowhere didn't entirely convince me-I personally wouldn't have been surprised if Jackson would have jettisoned Tolkiens riddles and rewrote them if he could to be more modern-the story is there, but the spirit really isn't. I totally agree with you, I also think Freeman's delivery is far too modern as well.
Its probably going to be a nice film with nice costumes and nice music and stuff, but it wont be grabbing me by the balls and making me jump about in my seat with excitement and joy like LOTR thats for sure.

If DOS grabs you by the balls, Mrs Figg, I shall say that Peter Jackson has created a miracle indeed

Snap. He got you good!
I think one of main problems with The Hobbit films is that they were made...besides all the changes and risk of damamging the book's percpetion by the public, ultimately ater LOTR there was too much hype and hope by me personally and popular culture for the films to live up to what I'd hoped.
Or maybe that is the massive quantity of caffeine I have consumed today speaking...

I just presumed that ten years would automatically mean 10 years better cgi and 10 years better scriptwriting and everything else. that PJ would have had 10 years to hone his craft and weed out the excesses. it looks like the opposite is true. its regressed which is odd.

Re: DOS Trailer #2
All the things that were somewhat non-Tolkien in LoTR have become egregiously non-Tolkien in the Hobbit. Given that these things are often splatter and goofiness regression is a good term.

Re: DOS Trailer #2
i don't have time to read through all of this (7 pages?!) but i think the only positive thing about the trailer was Benedict.. i mean.. it is actually his voice (except perhaps maybe just when he says light) but that is all him, guys.
Re: DOS Trailer #2
Yeah, Bendydick's voice seems to be universally praised on all the forums I've glanced at since the trailer dropped. I'm very much looking forward to seeing/hearing him in action in DOS.
Re: DOS Trailer #2
"Bendydick"
