Re: DOS Trailer #2
I don't know. The voice was okay, but it reminded me too much of auto-tune. Like it was obvious that the voice was being manipulated. I don't know how to describe how I hear it. I guess I could say I hear his regular voice, but there is like a metallic sound "in-between" the voice. That doesn't make much sense but that's the only way I can describe it.
It sounds like Cabbagepatch when he says "Come now, don't be shy," but with some sort of distortion. The line "Step into the light," sounds like something completely different.
I guess the only way to know if I like it is to hear more dialogue.

Re: DOS Trailer #2
the best thing about the trailer was a disembodied voice, hmm something is wrong there.

Re: DOS Trailer #2
Honestly being a vocalist and a guitar player, to me it sounds like they ran his voice thru a over drive/ distortion pedal. Yeah I've had fun playing with crap like thatbungobaggins wrote:I don't know. The voice was okay, but it reminded me too much of auto-tune. Like it was obvious that the voice was being manipulated. Re: DOS Trailer #2
just waned to tell u guys that i have watched the trailer with a proper set of stereo and bass and everything, and the "step into the light"-bit, it's not autotune or whatever.. it actually work just fine and it is all benderbum cumbercatch
Re: DOS Trailer #2
i know BUNGO! HE IS AWESOME! and that bit isn't even the best bit
here is more of Benedict

Re: DOS Trailer #2
NORC! I think you're a bad influence. I was telling my mom about the new DOS trailer and casually mentioned that Benedict's voice acting was really good. She immediately asks, apropos of nothing, "are you a Cumberbitch?" I didn't even know she'd ever heard of that word.

Re: DOS Trailer #2
I didn't say anything! I just mentioned that the voice of Smaug was the best part of the trailer.

Re: DOS Trailer #2
Are those official? I wasn't expecting to see TV spots yet. I do hope they pick up the marketing soon though, they'll need it given the relatively lackluster reception that AUJ got.
Re: DOS Trailer #2
Yeah, that was quick! But I agree, I feel like the hype has decreased significantly since AUJ, particularly because PJ hasn't been endorsing it like he did before. Either he's honestly had no time, or he's a cocky peacock that believes he's got the world eating out of his chubby fingers.

I guess if Cumberbum is doing the mo-cap for Smaug its likely the dragon will be two legged? instead of four.

Re: DOS Trailer #2
Beorn... What does Jackson's version have in common with Tolkien's OTHER than being hairy?
i don't get the look. Hopefully Persbrandt's performance with be so amazing people can overlook the image of what we have seen so far.

Re: DOS Trailer #2
Not so sure, sin, u can hardly see persbrandt in there..... Wich is a shame cus he's really a treat for the eye..
Re: DOS Trailer #2
I've seen Persbrandt in one film before and thought he was really good. I think he'll have the intensity for the role, but with all that hair and the forehead and nose bridge prosthetic will any performance he gives shine through. I'm not sure to be honest. Even looking at the character taking the fact that it Beorn out of the mix. The character looks awful. Something straight out of a Jim Hensen film in the 80s IMO

Re: DOS Trailer #2
That's a really good point. I haven't thought much about the mocap stuff, except to wonder if it involved Cabbagepatch crawling or writhing around on the floor of the studio. Hopefully we'll find out in the DOS-EE Appendices!Mrs Figg wrote:I guess if Cumberbum is doing the mo-cap for Smaug its likely the dragon will be two legged? instead of four.
Re: DOS Trailer #2
Just quoting my post to confirm that the new TV spots are indeed real. I saw one of them tonight during The Simpsons' Treehouse of Horror XXIV (if there's anything to make one stop and appreciate how good DOS is going to be in comparison... ).Eldorion wrote:Are those official? Re: DOS Trailer #2
beorn looks shit. i thought he was the one character they simply couldn't mess up, yet they did. he looks aweful.
Re: DOS Trailer #2
Now Norc, you should know by now to never underestimate PJ's ability to shit all over Tolkien from a great height.
There is nothing, no matter how detailed a description Tolkien provides that PJ wont completely alter out of all recognition for his own limited ends.
