I'll take that as a reconciliation then- Orwell

Not from me it isnt Orwell. I had been enjoying getting back to some writing for the forum, with the operative word there being 'had'.

And as someone who writes, and should feel free to write on any subjects, I dislike strongly this attack by false accusation.

You dont seem to apply this pc critique to anyone elses writing either-what about the sexualised depiction of characters in Needlhole stories?
Or the entire contents of the Archet Bugle back catologue?
But as soon as I crack one joke about the aging process relating to a woman I am public enemy number one and out to condemn all of womanhood.

I dont get it.

I just wanted to write something fun people might enjoy and have their day brightened up by.
Ill say this for you, you certainly know how to drain all the joy and pleasure out of writing something.

and you certainly know how to write something to drain the joy and pleasure of reading. Neither did it brighten up my day, it pissed me off, so in future if you have pearls of wisdom to roll out, keep me out of it.

Petty, Julia obviously took what you wrote in a way you didn't intend, but that's the risk we take by trying to be 'observant' and 'funny', don't we all? She has a right to her feelings on this. It won't help matters if you don't make an effort to understand her feeling of offence. The last thing Julia would want is for you to stop writing. Fact is, you write, she flared up in her own inimical style, and now we've all had our say, and now.. well... it's back to normal again, what? (If anything is 'normal' here? Very Happy ) Come on. Fair suck of the saveloy, mate!

Now, those sexy "Take That" photos, Ally! {{Quick!!!}}}

I have a better suggestion dont read any of my stories. Then you can still be offended by stuff I never wrote in the first place but without the trouble of having to read anything first.

Orwell- I dont mind she took it other than meant and was upset- thats fine- but she wont accept it was meant in any other way even though I, and you, have explained that already and that offence was the furthest thing from my mind- instead she still insists it was offensive and therefore presumably written to be so. And I dont like that accusation as its simply untrue.

Come on guys. You've both had your say. Obviously you're both feeling wounded at the moment. Frankly, I can see both sides. Julia, you took offence and said what you thought needed to be said, and you, Petty, have taken offence at being misunderstood. But shit happens, they say. You know you're both right too. In that circumstance, all you can reasonably do is allow yourselves a bit of oxygen on this. In the clear light of day, I know you'll come around to see that this has blown up a bit more than it needs to - that's all. It's not a life and death matter in the end. I'm not saying you both can't both be angry or upset or geninely offended, but come on, let's move on.

Ally -- those photos? Suspect

I already did! Mad In the story, in context- part two.

'Frankly, I can see both sides.'- Orwell

Well on this one Orwell I cant. The only side I see is one where I seem to be singled out for special treatment by Mrs Figg to have a go at me.
This is not the first time she has accused me of writing something I never intended to be taken in such a manner.
I dont mind critique, I dont mind people not liking stuff, I do mind personal attacks that make assumption about me as being inherently sexist or abusive towards or about anyone. That is not on and I will not sit quietly by and allow it.

I think we're all clear about what has happened. Julia took what you wrote in a way you never intended, but once something gets in your head you can't just wipe it away. I don't think for a moment what you wrote was offensive - I thought it was delightful and harmless - but Julia took it the way she did. You two are blessed with extreme honesty and fiery tempers when it comes to being hurt and defending your ground. That's one of the reasons everyone loves you two --- well, at least I do! --- but as I said above, it's clear by now what the issues are, and so do we need to reiterate them over and over? I'm not sure there's anything to gain by it. But I'm not trying to gag you. If you or Julia feel more needs to be said, by all means, go ahead. We've survived these things before and I'm sure we will again.

Takes more than a gift to rhyming slang to do that Ally!

" it's clear by now what the issues are, and so do we need to reiterate them over and over? "- Orwell

Thats the problem, the over and over. I havent written much for a while, especially for the forum and when I do I find here I am, again, having to defend myself against  accusations I cant see any founding in for offenses I never meant to cause or even envisioned.
Its like a really shit Groundhog Day, and I am simply tired of it.
