He is Scottish... so extremely pale white... probably with a carrot coloured mane.

But is he white, off-white, grey, gray, or somewhere in between?

I didn't think it mattered about the buckie. You northerers dont come out enough to catch a ray of the oh-so infrequent sun. Only travel from wheelie bin to skip during the night time!
Re: Star Wars Episode VII will be made now that Disney bought Lucasfilm
Scots bairns go through a sun ritual you know- otherwise you might be 3 or 4 before you get a sunny day and that can be traumatising if you've not been prepared for it.
And in winter we are more a pale blue with red blotchy bits than white.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII will be made now that Disney bought Lucasfilm
Semi-related, but we're getting some more details on the re-shuffled 3D re-releases. Episodes II and III are now scheduled to come out two weeks apart in September/October 2013.
Episode I in 3D was fairly underwhelming but I was too young/not allowed to see the SW prequels in theatres so I'll likely see at least Episode III. The Original Trilogy re-release is what I'm really looking forward to though.

The original trilogy- in 3D?

Re: Star Wars Episode VII will be made now that Disney bought Lucasfilm
Hey, I've never seen it on the big screen. I'll put up with the 3D (and the CGI dinosaurs) for that opportunity.
Re: Star Wars Episode VII will be made now that Disney bought Lucasfilm
But why cant they leave it alone- give your generation the chance to have the original, untampered experience on the big screen?
I'm sure you would prefer that.
I just dont get it- I had the good fortune years ago to get to see Metropolis in the cinema complete with live musical accompaniement.
There would have been no point in seeing it with all the effects redone by a computer and a modern sound score and dialogue added.
I just feel doing this sort of thing is missing the whole point.
Im happy you are getting the chance to see it in the cinema Eldo, its just a shame its not the 'genuine' experience of the original audience thats all.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII will be made now that Disney bought Lucasfilm
Well, Lucas has been reluctant to release the unaltered films even on home video (and he half-assed the job when he finally relented) so ... yeah, I'm unlikely to ever see Star Wars in its original glory. Still, considering that I was -11 years old when Return of the Jedi hit theatres, I'll take what I can get.
I would prefer to see the unaltered film, though, definitely.

Explain please. I know he changed some things for the DVD edit like the cantina shooting and the banthas, but my VHFs seems pretty close to how I remember the theatrical edits. Am I wrong?
I think I may have to see IV in 3D when it comes around. It felt like Lucas was trying for exactly that kind of whiz-bang in the original and would have used the technology if it had been available, but if it doesn't work I won't feel bad walking out after 15 minutes and keeping my memories intact.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII will be made now that Disney bought Lucasfilm
Sorry, I misspoke slightly. The original films were released more or less unaltered (except for the addition of the subtitle "A New Hope" to the original film) until the mid-'90s. That was on VHS and, I think, Laserdisc. After 1997 all home video releases, still on VHS, were the Special Edition created for the 20th Anniversary and re-released in theatres. In 2004, the films were finally released on DVD with a further revision of the Special Edition. It wasn't until 2006 or 2007 that Lucas authorized the release of the original trilogy in its unaltered theatrical form on DVD, but the quality of that version is not especially good.
All six films were released on Blu-ray last year with yet another round of changes and so far that's the only way they're available in HD. The theatrical re-release of The Phantom Menace earlier this year was identical to the Blu-ray version and so, presumably, will be the subsequent 3D versions.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII will be made now that Disney bought Lucasfilm
It is now being reported that Star Wars Episode VII will be directed by J. J. Abrams, best known for directing the 2009 reboot of Star Trek (and its upcoming sequel).
http://www.slashfilm.com/j-j-abrams-to-direct-star-wars-episode-vii/
Abrams has been quite open about his love for Star Wars and has even said that he's not much of a Trek fan in comparison. I liked ST 2009 for what it was but I'm not a big Abrams so I'm not too encouraged by this news. I'll still see the movie though, obviously.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII will be made now that Disney bought Lucasfilm
Thank the spirit of Shatners wig for this news- with this news and with a bit of luck JJ will piss off to cover everything in lens flare and make things explode in SW and leave ST do go back to some thinking again.

Plinkett was right after all. Is Lucas going to direct people to their seats in the theatre too?

I so hope that it ends up being Affleck (the other rumored director finalist) instead of Abrams, just like him better.

Yeah, I definitely agree, Lorient. I had no idea Affleck was even in the running, tbh.

Yea, he was one of the final names. It wasn't meant to be though, LucasFilm confirmed Abrams today.Eldorion wrote:Yeah, I definitely agree, Lorient. I had no idea Affleck was even in the running, tbh.

Get him the hell away from ST! Lucas already ruined SW so no body cares anymore.

Yeah, just remember how many people cared about Star Trek before Abrams took over. That's why ST: Insurrection and Nemesis were such huge successes, right?
...Right?
