Re: Born of hope
That's really cool that the Born of Hope people are continuing to work in the fantasy genre. Lord knows there's little enough epic fantasy television out there. I'll definitely give this a watch when it's out.
And I have to say: if the whole show looks as good as the teaser, it'll have better production values than the first season of Merlin.

Oh, you know, us religious folk consider it our duty to take in through the eyes the most beautiful of God's creations.

Every time I see something from True Detective I'm reminded of how much I need to watch it.

I feel the same about Breaking Bad, Friends, Game of Thrones, Lost, The Wire, How I Met Your Mother etc

No, I get rather bored/fed up waiting for the next season of a TV show to air, I'd rather read the books first, and wait for the series to end so I can watch it all in one go. The last Tv series I got into, Homeland turned into utter crap in its third season and I stopped watching...
I promised myself I'd complete the Doctor Who Marathorn first...I still have about 15 years worth of Classic Who to catch up on...

I'd watch Ren just to soak in the lead actress.
But I was a little put off in the trailer when she was clearly aiming a bow and was advised to breathe. You never breathe when aiming any weapon! Throws off the aim.

Re: Born of hope
Everything I've heard about the later seasons of Lost turns me off to the show, but I still need to finish Breaking Bad and The Wire. Both have been excellent through what I've seen.
Re: Born of hope
Lost has its faults like any other show, but I'm very glad I chose to give it a second chance - it's one of my favourite shows now, and the last seasons are every bit as good as the first

When my weapons primed to go off i'm usually breathing quite heavily.
Aims not to good either.

I got hooked on GOT like crack when HBO had a free weekend right before season 4 aired. Every episode on demand from season 1 till season 3 and then I watched episode 1 of season 4 on that Sunday night when it was free and I was hooked. I was calling to get HBO the next day so I didn't miss another episode. Course didn't help I was able to watch 3 whole seasons in a weekend. damn but that show is great.

Re: Born of hope
Well "Ren" certainly does not grab me much. But that's probably because it's probably nothing more than a low-budget version of the bad television that is so prevalent already in mainstream culture.
As for breathing, I thought you were supposed to breathe out slowly right before firing a rifle.
Or is that for archery? Or is that a myth?
I think it would relax the tension in your body, keeping you from shaking so much.
Apparently there is something called a natural respiratory pause. According to:
http://www.usacarry.com/4-options-breath-control-shooting/
you want to breathe deeply for some time before the shot, then either:
1. Breathe deeply until your head clears, aim, inhale until your lungs are full, pause your breathing, and take the shot.
2. Take a few deep breaths, clear your head, aim, exhale completely, pause once your lungs are empty of air, and take the shot.
3. Same as above, but after aiming exhale 50%, pause, and take the shot.
4. Or simply breathe as normal and, while breathing, take the shot.
This is what the author suggests on that site:
For archery though, here's a diagram from an Archery Site:
Apparently you let out about 30-50% of your breath as you are drawing, and then hold your remaining breath from anchoring (and aiming of course) through release. Exhaling some air apparently gives you a "natural sense of strength" while keeping most of your breath in your lungs is meant to promote a sturdier core for your body pose.
They also suggest diaphragm breathing (like, really deep breathing). That makes sense, considering how much more involved your body is in firing a bow than it is in firing a gun.

supposed to help steady the hand and its for either archery or firing a rifle. Either way depending on the caliber of the rifle its gonna hurt one way or the other. Years of experience to say that too

hmm I am not too impressed with Ren either. It looks a bit generic and a bit dull. I prefer their forays into Tolkien.
