{{ Beautiful location, but yeah, those aren't built to withstand a strong fart! Shocked Just parking your car after a few buckies risks bringing the whole thing down, whose idea was that?! Mad }}

I guess they are designed to deal with a medium size storm surge, but that seems to be about it.

That's beautiful, I can see why you jumped on it! Hope the water is pleasantly warm.

Petty - all the foundations in the world are no good when the house is underwater.  Stilts actually stand up well to wind, it's the house on top that's the problem.  I reckon what you're looking at is more strongly built than it seems.

I suppose Lance's treehouse doesn't have wifi. Would have liked a picture of it.

Not sure if you have ever been to a place called The County Line just outside Austin? If not, give it a go!

Heading to the airport now Sad

Ah, I see you made it to Salt Lick BBQ: may have been hot for eating outside but the trees are amazing.   Tree house looks good, I hope the Texas experience was worth the drive!

I think I've heard of County Line more than once, one day I'll make it there.

Well, back home again. Will get on to putting a holiday video together in due course (mainly do it so I can remember what happened) and share.

I didnt actually take many pictures with my proper camera this time around but the best ones will be in my Flickr as I process them over the coming weeks, if anyone is interested:

Now to planning the next one!

I have put a couple more up. I didn't really take too many photos as didn't want to lug my camera around when we were doing non-camera friendly things.

Hopefully I have some good video footage though!

Enjoyed that. Good move taking more video than photos. Nice look at the Texas hill country.

Nice music choices. Didn't realize Billy Holiday had a version of Blue Moon.

I love my drone, everything feels so much more cinematic with that. Shame it is difficult to find places to fly it!

{{ Great work Lance. What did you shoot this on surely thats not just your phone camera, the quality is superb.
Not a fan of big cities, or heights with glass floors! Like the rural stuff more. Vermillion looks s much like the stereotypical US coastal town, I rather like it but then I like being by the sea. Spicewood is nice and rural looking too, but too dry for me, not buckie drinking climate!
Love the final drone shots, got to love a drone.
Cracking work lance, like your music choices too suits each part well. }}

had an electricity blackout for two days because of the storm Ciaran. My town was flooded, and there is destruction and mud everywhere. Cars are smashed like toys and hundreds of shops have been inundated with mud and water. It's terrible like a war zone. A bleeding cyprus tree fell over on the power line covering our area. Washing my arse with freezing water was a bit of a shock  Shocked   so we moved to a local b&b to get washed and catch up on the interwebs. Very Happy  spent my time feeding the fire service with sandwiches from the only shop thats open.

Wait, storms get names in Europe?  I thought that only happened for Tropical storms.  Sounds almost as bad as a hurricane. Petty - did scotland get hit, adding to the previous storm damage?

I tried shaving once using water from a freezing cold river.  Couldn't feel my hands, eventually couldn't feel the razor against my face.  Cut myself all up and never felt it.  Warm water in winter had to wait until the invention of pottery - what a step forward that was!

A mix of my drone, a small handheld camera (DJI pocket) and phones.

We aren't big city people either but nice to spend a couple of days sightseeing and breaking up with more rural stuff.

Looking for something a bit more secluded for next year!

Figgy - doesn't sound great. Hope the weather moves on and gives enough of a break for repairs.

We had a lot of rain here with a few areas flooded. We are on some reasonably high ground in comparison to other areas here so all good for us other than it being miserable outside!

Not sure it would have reached Petty so much as was mainly across the south.

{{ Sorry to hear that Figg, its quite devastating to have everything around you wrecked by storms.
We were lucky here, barely touched us, some high seas, bit of increased wind but nothing to note. Its actually been quite warm for time of year. }}

we got electricity back but now there is no water. No its because everyone in the town is using water to clean away the mud. Its a scene of devastation and 8 people died.
