Is it too early to think about the 2014 Awards?

technically they're supposed to happen around New Years, so no not really! Last year there were some technical difficulties I believe....

Ideally the ceremony will occur on January 1 or within one or two days, though that's largely dependent on Petty's availability since this is his brainchild. But we do need to start work on the list of categories and nominees so that we can have a week or two of public voting. In previous years we've had voting periods of as little as 3-5 days, but that wasn't nearly enough for everyone to send in a ballot, what with the holidays and all.

Yeah between jan 1-5th is the aim.

And suggestions for any new categories are now welcome. Nod

Voting I thought could commence from the week before xmas.

How about best Essex person called Lance?

If not.... best photograph? Have we done that before? Maybe split in to people, nature and places?

We've had a visual art category before, or maybe it was lumped in with something else in the Creative Corner sectifon. But photos would definitely be a good category to have this year. Nod

I've also thought that it would be fun to have most and least favorite Tolkien movie categories, in honor (lol) of the final Tolkien film for the foreseeable future coming out. There are nine officially sanctioned ones, from Rankin/Bass' The Hobbit to BOFA, though we could theoretically also include unauthorized adaptations like the Soviet Hobbit or fan films like Born of Hope.

Favourite Trailer
Favourite EE only scene
Best Avatar (this may have cropped up last year)
At this rate, instead of 'most liberal', least apathetic might be more appropriate

When it comes to PJ, Petty may prefer crabbit, a state I fully understand and empathsize with, but apathy is a less painful state for me. Very Happy

Right time t get down to the work!

Eldo if you would be so kind as to do what you have done for every Awards and to compile for me a list of all those who qualify this year for the Best Newcomer Category.

I will be creating a thread shortly for folks to decide on categories.
I will provide a list of the existing categories there so you know what the starting point is (um, but please do bear in mind the more categories there are the more work it is to create the Awards Ceremony!).

Right people we really need to get things in gear for the awards ceremony- we are already behind schedule!! Mad

Eldo- I really could do with a list of those eligible for Best newcomer at your earliest convenience.

And we need to sort the categories out for this year- especially the film ones as well as any new ones t be added to the existing categories for awards.

Realistically I'd like to see categories ready for Jan 1st- with a week voting period then hold the Awards at the end of the first week in January.

Thanks Eldo- I plan on putting all the existing categories up later today.

Then folks can have a couple of days to suggest new ones or tweaks to old ones. Then we can get voting.
