Thank goodness those pics are from the Northern Hemisphere. When someone tries to pass New Zealand off as Middle-earth that hideous light and improper vegetation make me literally vomit in disgust.

The wrong kind of mountains? I'm not sure they can help that.
Did Tolkien really specify his mountains as glacially formed though? I would asume that at least Mordor and the Ered Lithui (The mountains of ash) were mostly vulcanic in origin.

Re: The big photos of beautiful things
its funny how my views on the wrongness of the Southern hemisphere landscape has been 'Pettyfied' over time. I now find the tropical forests in The Hobbit really distracting, its defo the wrong kind of grass.
although I don't notice it at all in LOTR.

I always found the threes in the Shire a little Southern Hemisphere-ee.

The only post as shocking as this that I could imagine reading would be Elthir and Dave agreeing on the meaning of "grey" when it comes to horses.

I thought they did agree on the meaning of grey when it came to horses.

I don't think any of the rest of us could follow that conversation well enough to know if they DID agree.

Re: The big photos of beautiful things
Hello everyone!
After having lost everything on my website due to admin issues, I have decided that writing about each place I have been to will be a bit sucky since I can't remember half of it now, which was the point in the first place.
I've decided to go with a new format which is basically like a picture book for each continent I have been to with very little in the way of wording. So far, I have created the landing (home) page and have started dropping pictures in to the South America section.
I have a feeling that dropping the full size pictures in will cause all sorts of loading issues, especially when it gets to full length so would appreciate any feedback people can give on this very early start, both concept and practicality.

Edit - Just finished S.A.
Thanks

Re: The big photos of beautiful things
I like the welcome Page Lance- neat, tidy, clear and attractive.
Went into the photos too, it did take a little bit to load every last one but nothing I'd consider excessive or offputting if I were visiting the site and enough loaded very quickly that thjere was always plenty pictures to look at whilst the few last ones were still loading in.

Re: The big photos of beautiful things
Thanks Petty,
Do you think it works as a concept or is it a little boring without words?

Re: The big photos of beautiful things
I thought it worked fine.
But you might want to consider breaking up the full page of photos in each section with the occasional line break of dialogue- to split up the sections - say a line before the Mayan stuff in the S America section, and then other between it and pics of modern Brazil.
It wouldn't necessarily have to be something you've written yourself- you could use a line of poetry, a song lyric or a quote- whatever you think sums up your feelings about those places best. It would just help break up having a large block of pictures.
