Has mention of mouldy orifices reminded you of my barrel and you are off to give it a good scrubbing?

Darn. I was going to go today but then my sister bailed on me, and I didn't have the wherewithal to go on my own. Hope it's great!

My impression from clips I've seen is they are using Chris Pratt as the misunderstood hero type. But misunderstood heros should not be good looking. Too Hollywood for my tastes, but probably fun.

The BBC review from Kermode wasn't great.

Re: Seen any good films lately? [3]
I'm tempted to see Jurassic World since I've heard so many good things about it from other people, but there are other recent movies I still want to see and I wasn't a big JP fan growing up.
Re: Seen any good films lately? [3]
I really liked Safety Not Guaranteed, but the charm of that story can't really transfer over to a Jurassic Park sequel.

Re: Seen any good films lately? [3]
I really wanted to see Safety Not Guaranteed when it came out, but my brother and I got to the theatre 10 minutes late so we ended up seeing Moonrise Kingdom instead. Not that I can really complain, since I adored that film and it introduced me to Wes Anderson, but I should track down SNG one of these days.
Re: Seen any good films lately? [3]
It was a lot of fun, or at least I thought so. Some things were eye roll worthy or groan inducing, especially involving the young actors.
My favorite scene by far was when
Overall the effects were good, some moments looked a little shoddy, but nothing as bad as Bofa. I would have appreciated some more wide shots during the final fight sequence. I won't give away anything else about that though. It's got a nice twist to it. I liked how they incorporated the trained raptors into the story, that was a neat angle we haven't seen before.
Is say this one is better than JP 2 and 3, but it was never going to live up to the first movie, so it would have been silly for me to put those expectations on it.

- Spoiler:
- the kids were exploring the ruins of the old park's visitor center. But what I didn't like here was how they just happened to know how to get one of the old jeeps started from that one time they worked on their grandpa's car (this is literally the explanation given)

What!
You hadn't seen any Wes Anderson before that movie?!
Geez Loueeze Eldo!
You should get a copy of Safety Not Guaranteed, it's quite charming and fun.
I went to see Jurassic World with my kind-of nephew and actual niece, by the way (the nephew is my sister's fiance's son and I don't think of him as my nephew quite yet, the niece is my awesome niece, who is pretty great).
Apart from some sporadic, and disturbing, laughing from two particular females whenever a human was eaten or killed on-screen, the viewing experience was quite enjoyable! They had neither of them seen any Jurassic films, and this turned out to be a fun way to introduce them both to the idea of a dinosaur theme park. I liked several little bits throughout the movie quite a lot. The conversation with Dr. Wu, if that's right, about the unnaturalness of what they are doing was actually quite sensible in the midst of all this talk of militarizing the dinosaurs. As usual, the near-magical abilities that the dinosaurs acquire due to gene-splicing is probably overdone and silly from a genetics viewpoint. But we're talking about dinosaurs here, so I really didn't care about that at all during the movie.
Pratt was pretty fun, the kids weren't abhorrent (although the older brother was rather idiotic now and then thanks to hormones). It was fun to see Jake M. Johnson again in the main control room. He was in SNG as well as, of course, the show New Girl, which I totally don't watch.*
I also liked the owner of the park, even if he was way overconfident in his flying abilities.
The main problem with the movie was really the whole military/mercenary militarized dinosaur plot. It kind of made sense, but the way it unfolded before us with a blatantly obvious (and single) villain was patently Hollywood and untrue to anything in real-life when it comes to something as large and complicated as the military. Little bits of his character came through in an interesting way, like the story of how his wolf-dog bit a chunk out of his wife who was attacking him with a cleaver, after which he kept the dog and divorced the wife. It was really just annoying though to see him waltz into the place
- Spoiler:
- Like he owned it after the Indomitus Rex broke out and the owner of the park was killed. His eventual death was as predictable and cliche as one could possibly hope for, if one actually enjoyed that sort of thing. (At least two women in the audience thought it was hilarious though.)
I suppose he was kind of like a stand-in for Wayne Knight's corrupt and fat character from Jurassic Park. Speaking of which, the spitting dinosaur from the original shows up briefly in a rather original, unrealistic, way.
I would recommend it. Mostly just for Chris Pratt's pleasantness and the thrill of seeing the world again, the Jurassic World.
*I totally watch that show.

A velociraptor went looking for Isla Nublar, and couldn't find it anywhere.

Glad to hear you liked it; that's enoucraging to hear. Hopefully I'll be able to find it online (and then find the time and energy to watch it) sometime soon.
Nice to hear you're take on JW, too. I am intrigued as a result of its success. I doubt I'll go see it alone but if friends or family plan an outing I'll probably tag along.

It's getting a lot of use on another forum I visit. At first I thought it was actually from the movie and then I really did want to go see it, but I was disabused of that notion.

Went to see Jurassic the other day in 3d. Was pleasently surprised. Not a bad movie.
Watched Divergent last night, was ok but a little slow.

I watched "A little Chaos" with Kate Winslet. It was ok, not Earth shattering but pleasant afternoon type film. It was mostly predictable. But Rickman & Winslet gelled nicely. It wasnt as "Grand" as I expected it to be tho. So, to spice things up a tad I went back & watched "Drive", Great film, great soundtrack
