I assume that would mean the last time she says that to someone in a romantic manner. She is so heartbroken by events and losing her love in this manner she does not see herself ever saying those words to anyone else again. Which in the circumstances is fair enough.Its also possible astronaut Pink no longer exists. Time could have been rewritten in the events of the finale so he never happens, its only fixed points in time cant be changed and we dont know if he is one of them or not

- But she says it before he dies, on the phone. I got the impression that it's terribly important that she tells him exactly that. And it's repeated later. (I was expecting it to be one of those "oh I really IS you!" thing, but it wasn't.) I did wonder if it was a oddly phrased "I will always love you" thing. But the wording is weird if she is pregnant.

- She doesn't say she will never say it again on the phone- she tells him she loves him on the phone in a very strong affirmative manner- thats a direct follow on from the end of the last episode- when she tries to tell Danny why she has been lying ect to him and he tells her not to tell her now just because he has called her out on it. To go away, really think about it, then tell him so he knows she really means it- thats what she is doing at the start of the episode on the phone. Its why she has all the post-it notes with reminders of all the stuff she wnt to say to him, but then she starts with I love you and then realizes that really thats the important thing the rest boil down too

- The difference is what she is actually SAYING. She vows never to say I love you to anyone else. I am sure Clara - who spends her days trying to make kids (and herself) feel special - would tell her child she loves him/her. I am just saying the theory doesn't sound right to me.
That said though, we are talking about the Moff and I really think there's got to be a more complicated story than "just" that.

- There is difference in saying I love you to someone you are romantically involved with and sexually attracted to and saying it to a family member (or I hope there is!!). When she says it to Danny she means she wont say it in the first way to anyone else, as she will be with him for the rest of her life- not that she wont say it to a future child of there's or other members of her family.
Its a romantic I love you, which is empathized in the final sentence- Those words, from me, are yours now.- Its clearly romantic love she is speaking of.

- I just don't believe those are the words Clara would have used if she was about to tell Danny that she was having his baby. Those are not randomly chosen words. They are dramatic and desperate, and they don't sound right to me. The sounded off from the fist time she said them, like they meant more than "I love you forever" in that scene. I still say it sounds far more like a last goodbye than a "hey, um, I got some news" conversation.

- She doesn't know what she is going to say to him, you see this at the start of the call when she references all her notes trying to work out where to start, then she decides the most important single thing she has to say to him, because it encapsulates everything else in it own way, is that she does love him. And not in a casual 'i love you' just a means to say goodbye at the end of a call sort of way, but in an 'its important you first understand that I truly love you' sort of way. Thats why its dramitc, but its not desperate.
We dont know if she was planning to tell him she is pregnant in that scene (we dont even know if she is pregnant or not, its just viewer speculation).
It never gave me the impression she thought something was going to happen and she would never be able to say again because it was a goodbye, just that she was never going to say it again to anyone else as she loves him.

- Interesting you say you feel underwhelmed. I certainly think this last series was lower key- in that it was less huge universe time shattering events and much more personal. It felt a much more intimate experience to me.
I also feel that it was one of, if not in fact the, best constructed series of Who ever. Im not saying it was the best series ever, just the best constructed.
Every single episode explored a theme or a characterisation which built up and into the themes of the resolution. No episode was thematically unnecessary.

- I was underwhelmed too, and not because it was well constructed, because I thought it was a bit hit and miss in that department, but underwhelmed because it was lacking in sparkle and fire in its guts, it was the last hurrah of Moffat and it showed. All out of original ideas, it rehashed bits from the back catalogue. The only truly fresh bits were in Flatline and the Spooky Forest episodes.

- The Robin Hood episode, not a favourite of mine, though I thought it was fun enough, was thematically linked however to the idea of what a hero is and whether or not the Doctor qualifies as one. Its also the episode where 12 provokes the down trodden to rise up and overthrow their masters without any desire fr power himself- the moment where Marion kisses his cheek out of gratitude and he just stands there for a moment holding a hand to his cheek releasing he has just acted the part of hero is one of my favourite little moments in the series.
(Couldnt find a clip of that bit but you can see it in this lets watch at 36:35. Its one of those wonderful little brief Capaldi moments I love so much in his performance)-
I dont get the complaint Moffat has run out of ideas, this series was very fresh to me, lots of new writers and directors Moffat brought in, a much more intimate character study series rather than bombastic or myth like and what exactly did he rehash?
Interestingly given you liked the Forest one it tends to come out bottom in the polls I have seen for peoples favourite episodes this series, next to the Robin Hood one
