Oddly enough Big Finish seems to have got William Russell to voice Hartnell for Light At The End instead- Malick

Even oddier, and doing a decent job, according to wiki the 2nd Doctor was voiced by Frazer Hines, who of course also plays Jamie the second Doctors main companion.

Hines was very good as Troughton (I still think they are the best Doctor/Companion team I've seen so far), you never know if this new box set is a success they may consider doing the same for 2-imagine Hines acting against himself...

The two ranges I really want from Big Finish: A War Doctor Chronicles (only with John Hurt), and a 'What if?' range staring Rowan Atkinson as The Curse of Fatal Death Doctor Laughing

They haven't unfortunately you misread my post-I mean to say I'd LOVE them to do it (who wouldn't!) but it's unlikely to happen (they can't really afford Hurt and I'd doubt he'd do it, a shame as I loved his performance in DOTD).

There is however an audio book of 'Engines of War' coming out, though again I don't think Hurt is involved.

Yeah, Engines of War, I've heard it's very good, but much like the concept of the War Doctor kinda fan servicey. I read a while ago on reddit someone was putting together a Volume of short stories on The War Doctor, but I don't know if they were licensed by the BBC or not.

Whilst I find the concept of The WD fascinating, revealing too much about the 'forgotten' incarnation and the crazy Time War might end up loosing the magic a bit.

Yeah I think that is a risk. It was why I was glad Moffat concerned himself with only showing us small bits of the actual War and didnt try to show us the weird shit like the Army of Neverweres and the Nightmare Child- anything they put on screen would be less interesting than just the names suggest.

Yeah that's probably why it's best for Audio-you get the acting and emotion, but the images are left to our imagination. Admittedly I haven't listened/seen much of 8's vast tenure overall, but I find it a little odd people straight away consider 'War' taking his place in the time war a bad thing, sure Mcgann probably could have done it (time will tell) but I wouldn't want my fave Doctor (still Hartnell) to be rejected as a mass murderer by the others, when someone else could take the blame and remain just a bit more mysterious in the process (and especially if John freaking Hurt were playing him) (Actually, come to think of it, doesn't Hartnell mention fleeing from a mysterious War in An Unearthly Child?), I guess it depends on how much the utilise 'War' in the expanded universe as to whether he is viewed as a interesting idea, or casting gimmick by the fans in the long run...

It just wouldnt have worked with 8. It would be against absolutely everything his Doctor had stood for in his tenure on BF.
The way Moffat did is regen was perfect to the character.
I also loved that where almost every other Doctor would have said "I'm sorry," 8 says "I apologise" that so spot on for him.

Couple of nice fan vids- spoilers of course for series 8-

Its not a matter of me being right, you can still not like the story, the characters, or whatever, its a matter of the explanation being right there in the script. It can be heard, seen in the episode, and as I have done, quoted, written down and posted here. By definition they cant therefore be plot holes as they are explained in the plot.

nope they are not explained.

And this is why i find it hard to believe you actually watched the episodes.

According to wiki a plot hole is-

A plot hole is a gap or inconsistency in a storyline that creates a paradox in the story that cannot be reconciled with any explanation.
While many stories have unanswered questions, unlikely events or chance occurrences, a plot hole is one that is essential to the story's outcome.

Given everything you claimed said so far that is a plot hole has a quotable explanation in the script it cannot therefore be a plot hole. And none of them create a paradox in the plot.

I was looking in the annual Sears Christmas wish book I have loved it since I was tiny, and what did I see? I saw a Dr. Who screwdriver for sale,, in the children's section. First of all, Dr. Who is virtually unknown here, at least in my experience across Canada. Second, why on earth would a child need Dr. Who screwdriver. So I am getting it for me and Travis and Clayton and |Hasia can learn to use it under supervision. We do a lot of building and who knows, it might inspire me to buy the dvd's.
I should really buy it for our Petty, then mayhap he will stop setting his bottom on fire or whatever he is doing. I rarely understand a thing you intellectuals say. sigh. Embarassed

Dr. Who is virtually unknown here, at least in my experience across Canada.- leelee

I assume therefore you dont watch Space?- Season 8 of DOCTOR WHO is the Most-Watched Series in Space History and Saturday Night’s Most-Watched Series. Ranking as the #1 TV series on Canadian specialty television. In fact, DOCTOR WHO is the most-watched television program on Saturday nights in Canada during its 9 p.m. ET timeslot among total viewers and all key demos.

'why on earth would a child need Dr. Who screwdriver.'- Leelee

To give flight to their imagination. Its a family show, in fact it started out as a childrens show-

From Adventures in Space and Time, a docudrama about the shows creation (tha man who came up with the concept was also Canadian, Sydney Newman)-

You cant be depriving Hasia of the good Doctor leelee  Mad - see to it at once!  Nod

'Mrs Figg and Petty are the closest things to intellectuals we have.'- Orwell

Can you be an intellectual if youve just spent a night sitting a bucket of water because you set fire to your own bum?

Further info from the Anatomy of a Hit panel-

Moffat said how the casting of Peter Capaldi had been inevitable as soon as the name was mentioned. "We announced the actor to a nation who already knew."

He agreed that the casting of an older Doctor may have unsettled the audience that had grown up with David Tennant and Matt Smith in the role. 'We definitely ruffled their feathers by changing the actors. Shows don't die when they change, they die when they are comfortable.'

He said casting for Danny Pink had been very difficult because all the actors who auditioned had been so good.

Nikki Wilson (Producer) said "We're incredibly lucky because there is a crew in Cardiff that have grown up with the show... and they know it inside out."

Steven Moffat said he felt no guilt about lying about the return of the Master when asked at an event for the launch of Deep Breath. "It would have ruined the surprise."
Because the reveal was filmed outside St Paul's Cathedral in London the actors mimed their lines and recorded the dialog later. To try to keep the secret the team even went to the trouble of recording a scene where Missy identifies herself as a Random Access Neural Interface, hoping fans would pick up on the acronym and spread the word that the Rani was returning. 'Whenever I arrange skullduggery, no-one ever notices.'- Moffat.

Moffat was asked about the killing of Osgood in the final episode, defending it as necessary. 'I was aware that the Master as a character gets cuddly very fast. If we're going to bring her back, she's got to kill someone in a. horrible way. Otherwise she becomes a slightly more naughty Doctor.'

The showrunner was asked about the audience reaction to Series eight, in particular perceived falling ratings.
'The figures are the same - they're just the same, he said. If by 'ratings', you mean the number of people who watch the show... they are the same. The number of people who watch on Doctor Who on iPlayer has trebled. The way people watch it has changed but viewing figures have remained the same.'

Brian Minchin also pointed out how well the show is doing globally now, for example the audience watching on BBC America is up 30 percent since Capaldi took over the role of the Doctor.

The team are now working on preparation for Series Nine, with Steven Moffat currently writing episode One. The list of writers has been decided but the details are secret for now. - Gallifrey Base

Canada\s speciality television, that explains it That would be the Vanouver and Toronto group, because nation wide Saturday night is always hockey night in Canada, no matter what month. I have never found a single person from any strata who even knows him unless I have mentioned what you say and then they look up old reruns , watch it once and forget it. I quote you a lot and it was for you that I watched half an episode and then I lost interest. That is why when you say all Britain watches on Christmas I don't know why. Mr. Bean is somewhat known and a few of us wierdies love him. And keeping up appearances is loved and known and of course Coronation Street and some mothers ave em with Michael Crawford who we, some of us, got to see live as Phantom. But here at least, people are out hiking or biking, or canoeing or skiing on Mount Silver Star or the theatre, stage, or coffee houses. Television is not all that much watched it seems. Do it for the children leelee, they will thank you or it when they grow up Nod

'keeping up appearances is loved. and some mothers ave em with Michael Crawford'

Does Canada get most of its tv beamed in from the 1970's and 80's? Shocked

'Are we missing out'

Oh yes, you are.

'What is it about Dr who that you love?'

Well my sig sums up the ethos of the main character that I love very much (thats the Moffat quote not the Zaphod one!).
Its unique, not just in the amount of time its been running but that in all that time there has never been anything else like it.
Its also been there my whole life, I started watching before I can remember watching.
As a child it was a huge imaginative inspiration. I write now because I watched Who as a kid and made my own adventures up- its great at that, it inspires creation in others- you only need to check out all the fan made stuff on youtube from orchestras to filming their own adventures to see that.
It works on many levels, to the kids it delights and scares at turns, but never talks down to them or patronises them or underestimates their intelligence (Moffat always say to adults who complain its too complex, 'if you dont know whats going on, ask a 6 year old to explain it to you') and for adults it has a lot of deeper themes running through it about life, death, moral choices ect.
Its also a huge amount of fun, its silly, its ridiculous, it sometimes wears a bowtie and it doesnt care if you think its cool or not.

Put dont just take my word for it, heres a young Whovian who reviews episode, Lindalee (I think she is 6 now, she started reviewing episodes aged 5)- (skip to 6.30 for her thoughts, the first part is just an episode recap)
